Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are succulents?

A: Succulent (Latin: succos = juice, sap) plants come from more than 60 families and 300 genres. They have evolved special water-storage tissues in thickened or swollen leaves, stems, and roots as an adaptation to arid environments. By making the most of scarce available moisture, succulents can survive in habitats that are far too dry for most other plants.

Q: Do I need to water my succulents?

A: We include instructions in all of our orders.  A great rule of thumb is to only water when the soil becomes completely dry.  Be sure not to over water as succulents do not ever like standing water (even in the soil).  It is best to water less, especially at first, to see how long it takes for the soil to dry back out.  Soak thoroughly, then allow to dry completely, repeat.  If you have any questions about the care of your plants feel free to contact us directly at service@shopsucculents.com
